On 18 September 2025, the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Soshanguve South Campus hosted the exciting Varsity WellFest 2.0, a vibrant health and wellness festival held at the Small Gate Lawn Area. The event was coordinated by the Health and Wellness team with the aim of promoting health and wellness among students by combining awareness with fun activities.

Varsity WellFest 2.0 blended education with entertainment to encourage participation. Students were offered a wide range of health services on-site, including HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT), Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC), STI and TB screening, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) screening, and mental health support. There were also family planning services and important information on PrEP and PEP for HIV prevention. Outreach Coordinator Garry Nkosi said , “Our goal with WellFest is to bring health services closer to the students in a way that is friendly and non-judgmental. We don’t want young people to fear testing or asking for help.”This highlighted the outreach team’s commitment to creating a safe space where students could access HIV testing, GBV screening, and mental health services without stigma

The lawn area was also full of games and activities. Students played ball games, ran through obstacle courses, and joined team games that made them active, happy, and connected with others. These fun challenges created a happy mood that mixed well with the serious health messages of the day . David Sebosetsa ,Programme Director said “We designed the program to balance education and entertainment. Students learn best when they are relaxed, so combining games, music, and health services made participation easy.” The team kept on ensuring that tudents also visited the screening stations, proving that fun can be a strong motivator for wellness.
