Student City FC and Western Courts FC Battled to a 1–1 Draw

The match between Student City FC and Western Courts FC ended in a 1–1 draw at the TUT Garankuwa Sports Field on Friday, 3 October 2025. The game started at 12:00, and both teams played with great energy and determination. The match was full of action, close chances, and strong teamwork from both sides.

Student City’s goalkeeper made key saves to keep his team in the game. The first half ended 0–0, showing how well both sides defended. After the break, Student City FC came back more focused. Their number 7 scored the opening goal at 13:00, putting Student City in front. However, moments later, the same player received a yellow card for a tough tackle, and Coach Khutso Ratlhagane decided to substitute him with number 8 to protect the lead. Western Courts didn’t give up. They made their own substitution, bringing in number 11 for number 3 to strengthen their attack. The change worked and number 4 from Western Courts scored a goal at 13:32, making it 1–1.
There were also some tough moments on the field. Western Courts’ number 5 was injured during a challenge and had to leave the game. Later, Vilakazi Bandile wearing number 11, received a yellow card for time-wasting. A penalty was later awarded after another injury incident involving Western Courts, which added more tension to the match. Referee Khutso Ratlhagane kept the game under control and made sure both sides played fairly. He said, “It was a tough but fair game. Both teams gave their best and respected the rules.” When the final whistle blew, the score stayed 1–1. Student City’s number 7 Sakhile Ndlovu was named Man of the Match for his goal and outstanding effort. Speaking after the match, he said, “It was a hard game, but I’m proud of how we played. Western Courts were strong, but we fought until the end.” Student City striker Lunga Mthethwa also said , “I’m happy with how we played. Even though we didn’t win, we gave our best and stayed united as a team.”
