My name is Aphiwe Nkutha  and I'm a journalism student at Tshwane University of Technology .The main reason that drew me to journalism is the power of storytelling. Journalism allows me to bring important issues to light and bring voice to voiceless. My hobby is writing poetry .The art of crafting words has a profound impact on my writing as a journalist.

My first semester as a student of TUT was challenging yet rewarding experience .I also realize that first semester is like a trial by fire ,you're thrown into the deep end but somehow you manage to swim .From day one the lectures fast paced ,the assignments are demanding and the deadlines are unforgiving. What funny is that i went to my first semester thinking i knew it all ,but i quickly realized that i knew nothing.

First ,I tried to navigate the campus and ended up getting lost in the libray for three hours .I'm pretty sure i saw a ghost in the stacks . I also met new people and even made few friends along the way. Finding friends helped me because there was a time where i found myself in the wrong classroom and ended up taking notes about animal production while i'm doing journalism ,pity me i did'nt attend orientations.

One of the most enjoyable aspects i had on my first semester when we had trip with intergrated communication students . We were able to distress from our upcoming exams . We were playing games and we learnt alot .I understood that teamwork and collaboration can lead to amazing outcomes and to priotize self care . One of the biggest challenges i faced on my first semester was adjusting to life in a new province .I had to navigate new languages which at time felt overwhelming.

Despice the challenges i faced during my first semester at TUT , I also experienced many moments of success and personal growth.
